PAINT PARTIES: PAINT & SIP NATURE SERIES: Session 1 “Winter Scene”

Thursday, Jan. 30, 6:30-9 p.m.
Cost: $40
Description: Paint along with Vicky while learning a variety of techniques and artist’s styles in a paint party atmosphere. Bring your favorite beverage and create a finished painting in each session. Personal attention to each student. All skill levels welcome. Seating starts at 6 p.m., and instruction starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.

FUSED GLASS WORKSHOP: AGES 15 TO ADULT
Instructor: Jill Fielding
Saturday, February 8, noon-2 p.m.
Cost: $55 plus $18 supply fee payable to instructor
Description: You choose and design a colorful five-inch trinket/nut/candy  plate or tile using a variety of shapes and colors of glass pieces. Once assembled instructor will take pieces to her studio to fire in her kiln. Pick up at Make Art Monday on March 16.

GLASS SUNCATCHER WORKSHOP
Instructor: Jill Fielding
Thursday, February 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $55 plus $18 supply fee payable to instructor
Description: In this class you will design a unique, mosaic-like 4-inch x 6-inch Suncatcher. Choose from a variety of shapes and colors, which will be tacked in place which the instructor will then take to her studio to fire. Pick up at Make Art Monday on March 16.

PEN & INK WORKSHOP FOR KIDS AGE 12+

Description: Learn about types of pens, papers, and techniques of this versatile medium, while exploring various ways to create tonal value and texture to create your own masterpiece. All skill levels welcome.

Description: Learn about various printmaking techniques, vocabulary and supplies from an award-winning artist. Using an etching press, you will create one-of-a-kind as well as limited edition works of art. All skill levels welcome.

WATERCOLOR FOR BEGINNERS & INTERMEDIATES

Tuesdays, February 25-April 14, 1-3 p.m.
Cost: $130
Description: Learn color theory and basic composition. Utilize your own photos, still life and your imagination to experiment with various painting techniques. Supplies to be discussed in first class along with a supply list. Returning students will continue their journey with watercolor by exploring texture and atmosphere. Please bring notepaper to class.

TRICKS OF THE TRADE: ADVANCED WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
Instructor: Kass Morin Freeman
Two Saturdays, March 7 & 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Cost: $80
Description: Explore the use of simple materials, such as wax paper, Saran Wrap, salt and more to create fresh and focused watercolor paintings. Learn from a nationally,renowned artist. Bring a lunch and the following supplies:
2 sheets 11×14” Arches watercolor paper
1 mounting board,
tube watercolor paints
palette, brushes
water bucket
scissors.

Also useful to bring are natural sponges, wax paper,Saran Wrap and Yupo paper. Kass will have Yupo paper available for purchase, as well as other “tools” to be demonstrated.

Make Art Mondays

Make Art Mondays are monthly 2 hour workshops, held the third Monday of the month, 7-9 p.m., at 125 N. Main Street in North Wales. Try your hand at a wide variety of subjects and media in the company of other artists. Costs for supplies are usually $5.00. Below is a schedule of what we have planned for the year.

January 20: Chinese New Year Paper Lanterns
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with this fun, festive activity.

February 17: Illuminated Letters
Using your initial, create a decorative piece of art based on medieval manuscripts.

March 16: Foam Printmaking
An easy way to create original prints and great intro to printmaking.

April 20: Earth Day project
Recycled bottles based on Mexican Huichol Art: bring a glass or plastic bottle or ja

May 18: Paper Flowers
Repeat activity due to popular demand. Perfect for spring decorating.

June 15: Native American Medicine Shields
Learn about the meaning of Native American Shields and create your own personal story.

July 20: Kandinsky Inspired Art
This project is based on his ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’ painting: a study on how different color combinations are perceived.

August 17:  Paper Molas
Based on cotton panels of the Kuna culture in Blas Islands. We will use colored papers to recreate these beautiful panels.

September 21: Accordion Poetry Books
Bring a haiku or favorite line of poetry to use to create a decorative self standing decorative book.

October 19: Day of the Dead Pumpkins.
Based on Frida Khalo’s Art, bring a real or fake pumpkin to decorate!

November 16: Luminaries
Bring a glass container to create a holiday centerpiece

December 21: Mandalas 
Learn about Mandalas and create your own.
